We had the opportunity to catch up with Wayne Clark who teaches OPS Mobility30 at Optimum Performance Studio , Hong Kong. Read below to find out more about him and his fit lifestyle.

Hello Wayne Clark, tell us a bit about yourself.

Growing up in Sydney and being influenced and working with some of the industries best trainers and educators, I pursued my passion for a career in Fitness and Education. I moved to Hong Kong in 1998, with a background in Sports Medicine and Human Movement Studies. I love sharing and hope to inspire others to lead a healthier lifestyle.

What are your favourite workouts?

I like everyday workouts like hiking etc., but when I can’t do that, I love  doing any functional training workout. Workouts that will help with my general day to day mobility and ability like the OPS Mobility30 class, ViPR and TRX are some of my favourite pieces of equipment to use.

What is your workout routine ?

My routine starts with being an early riser and going out on to my terrace in the morning to do my workouts there. That really helps me get the day started. I do Calisthenics, or yoga poses for example.

What advice would you give someone who wants to transition to a healthier lifestyle or start working out?

The best advice I can give someone who doesn’t really know where to start is, firstly try not to think too much about it, just do something that you enjoy, (walking or hiking for example) this can then lead to other things like organised small group sessions with friends. Remember, it is always easier to do things with a buddy or a friend and this will also make it more enjoyable.

What does your daily diet look like? Do you give yourself “cheat days”?

I am a person of moderation, I eat most foods that don’t come out of a box or packet or a tin and avoid excess. I avoid any fast foods and anything that has been processed in anyway. I never eat much after 7 p.m. as I go to bed pretty early. Breakfast is where I eat most of my calories.

Do you have a motivational fitness quote you live by?

Motivation is what gets you started, you just need to find what motivates you to do something, then eventually it will become a habit.
